Week 2-Sheamoisture campaign

In this week 2 critical portfolio, I will explain my participation in the Sheamoisture’s campaign “Sheachangemakers 2021”. This is SheaMoisture’s first campaign to support women of colour making meaningful changes in their communities. In this campaign, a participant must  complete the nomination form by answering a series of questions and uploading a profile photo. Then, eight Shea changemakers were nominated by a panel of judges based on public voting. Finally, they were rewarded with $ 10,000 ($ 3000 for the first placed nominee and $ 1000 for the next seven nominee) and Shea moisture gift pack. (Dawes, 2021)

To me, this is a successful communication artefact for Sheamoisture as it provides a recognition platform to support the diversity of Australian women in today’s global cosmetics industry. I am one of the nominees of the Sheachangemaker 2021 campaign. I used this $1000 prize money in a Rohingya women community project to educate Rohingya refugee kids about anger management in the camp by collaborating with BRAC. Similarly, other nominated sheachangemakers have used the rewarded fund for their own community projects such as Tinsea Elsdon promoting Ethiopian cuisine for the first time at the Sydney Old Gold Café with Welcome Merchant. She raised charity fund for Hamlin Fistula Ethiopia from this.

Most creative female Australians find it difficult to receive state and federal governments grants for their community projects. Sheamoisture’s 2021 Sheachangemaker campaign has made an impact with nominations for supporting eight impactful community projects. I recommend Sheamoisture to do an interview program with nominees  on its own Youtube channel how they accomplished their community projects with rewarded money.
